Supporting Jena 6

Thousands gathered into a tiny central Louisiana town this past December. Six black teens were arrested, five were originally charged with attempted second-degree murder charges in beating of a white classmate. It all happened when black students wanted to hang out under a shaded tree where whites hung out. The next day nooses appeared in the tree and three white kids were suspended but not criminally prosecuted. The noose incident was followed by fights between blacks and whites, around December's attack on white student Justin Barker, who was knocked unconscious. People began massing for the demonstrations before dawn Thursday, jamming the two lane highway leading into town and parking wherever they could. The crowd was estimated at 15k-20k people.
